How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?

There are many reasons why a child may need speech therapy. Every child is unique, but you may consider speech therapy for your child if he or she:

  • Has not met developmental milestones for speech or language

  • Has speech that is difficult to understand

  • Has difficulty following directions or understanding questions

  • Has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental delay

  • Has difficulty socially interacting with peers

  • Is struggling with reading or writing at school

Only a speech-language pathologist can determine if your child has a need for therapy services. For questions about how your child may benefit from speech therapy, please contact us for a free phone consultation or to schedule an appointment.

What is the cost of speech therapy?

SpeechWise offers competitive service rates and is an approved provider of the Family Empowerment Scholarship. We offer private pay services, and accept most Medicaid plans, including CMS, Simply, and Sunshine. We are a certified out of network provider for Tricare. Please contact us for more information.

What should I expect during the evaluation?

Evaluations are completed in the child's natural environment (school, home, etc.), virtually, or in our Titusville clinic. Some paperwork will need to be completed prior to the evaluation, such as background information. Evaluations usually include formal testing and informal observations and assessments. This comprehensive evaluation allows the therapist to determine the communication strengths and weaknesses of your child. This information is then used to establish an individualized plan of care for your child from which therapy sessions will be based.
